If you are a student of a university, graduate school, junior college, high school, technical college or schools in the miscellaneous category (including night school and e-school), aged 20 years or older, you may be allowed to postpone the payment of the National Pension contribution for the April 2021 to March 2022 period if your January to December 2020 period income (e.g. salary) was less than a certain amount, upon the approval of your application under this student-specific program (Gakusei Nofu Tokurei Seido).
※You can retroactively pay the postponed National Pension contribution within 10 years. If you do not recover contribution payments within 10 years, this granted periods count as qualifying periods for the Old-age Basic Pension, however, will not be reflected to your benefit amount. Please contact below for details.
Documents required: (1) personal ID (Resident Card, driver’s license, etc.), (2) Pension Handbook (“Nenkin Techo”) and (3) student identification card (valid for FY2021) or student registration certificate (issued in FY2021)
