Crows’ breeding season is from April to June. In this season, crows are always looking for food like raw garbage. Please be strict in following the rules below.
(1) Observe the day & time of garbage collection!
Check your garbage days with the “Furusato Calendar” given out to every household, or “Information of Daily Life” attached to this Minoh Post. Put out garbage before 9:00 on the correct day. Don’t put out garbage overnight before the collection day.
※You may also check your garbage day using the smartphone app “Minoh Kurashi Navi.” There are useful functions to inform you the day or the day before the collection.
(2) Use the designated garbage bags, cover the garbage with a net and put a weight on it!
Put in no more than the designated “burnable bags” can hold. Cover the garbage bags with a net and tuck the end of the net under the garbage. Crows can easily uncover the nets. Place weights on top to prevent them from taking it away. (Nets are available in DIY stores.) Putting the garbage in garbage pails with lids is also effective.
※ When you put out garbage together with more than 5 houses, you can rent garbage nets from Minoh City. Please ask the Environmental Management Office (Kankyo seibi-shitsu).
(3) Be responsible and clean up immediately!
Clean up immediately if the garbage has become scattered. If left as is, crows will rapidly gather. Don’t drive away crows with a stick and so on because crows may attack humans. Crows hate strong light. It is possible to drive away crows by shining light on them with a mirror or a flashlight.
※Minoh City will remove crows’ nests. Please inform Environment & Animal Office (Kankyo Dobutsu-shitsu) at 072-724-7039 when you find crows’ nests.
