“Filing of municipal/prefectural taxes” is to report your income from Jan. 1 to Dec. 31, 2023 to Minoh City. Your income is the amount of money you made minus your expenses. Your municipal and prefectural taxes will be based on this amount.
(1) People who need to file:
a. Those who are residents of Minoh City as of Jan. 1, 2024, and had income from Jan. 1 to Dec. 31, 2023.
b. Those who have houses, offices and/or shops in Minoh City even though they are not residents of Minoh City.
(2) People who don’t need to file:
a. Those who will be submitting their final tax return.
b. Those whose income from Jan. 1 to Dec. 31, 2023 was their salary only, and their company submitted their year-end adjusted salary payment report to the City Office (called Nenmatsu-Chousei).
(3) Filing reception:
Filing must be done between Fri., Feb. 16 and Fri., Mar. 15, 2024. There are two ways of reception, a. or b. below. Whichever you choose, you need the filing form. It is downloadable from the Minoh City website.
a. You can send the forms by post to the Municipal Residents’ Tax Office (4-6-1 Nishishoji, Minoh 562-0003). Since the reception desks will be crowded with many people and it will take time to file, you are recommended to send them by post.
b. You can bring the form to the Municipal Residents’ Tax Office with you. In such a case, to shorten the time of your stay please complete both the form and the necessary attached documents such as detailed statements of the amount for medical deduction at home.
※The reception desks are closed on Sat., Sun. and National Holidays. However, on Sun., Feb. 25 your filling can be accepted between 10:00-12:00 on the 1st floor of the City Office Annex and at Toyokawa Branch. You can’t file your final income tax return there.
(4) “My Number” is required
a. You must write your “My Number” on the form. When submitting the form at the City Office in person, you need to present your “My Number Card” (“My Number” Individual Number Card). If you don’t have it, please present your “My Number Notification Card” and your personal ID (your driver’s license, Resident Card, or passport).
b. When you send the forms by post, please be sure to enclose a photocopy of your “My Number Card”. If you don’t have your “My Number Card”, send photocopies of your “My Number Notification Card” and your personal ID (your driver’s license, Resident Card, or passport).
※The following people need to file municipal/prefectural taxes: People who receive their salary from two or more sources and want to pay the municipal/prefectural tax through both special collection (deducted from your salary) and regular collection (to pay the tax by yourself) of taxes.
