Vaccination Against the Omicron Variant Has Started!

The Japanese government has been supplying a new COVID-19 vaccine (Pfizer and Moderna) against the Omicron variant since mid-September. The new vaccine contains components effective for both the original COVID strain and the currently wide-spreading Omicron variant, and is believed to be more effective in preventing severe cases and spread of infection. Also, it is expected to be effective against future variants. This vaccination is available once per person and is free of charge.
◆Those who are eligible for the new vaccination:
All people aged 12 and over who have been vaccinated for 5 months since the 2nd vaccination to the 4th one.
◆Time to start:
It has already started in October. When making an appointment for the new vaccination, please make sure to check the type of vaccine. (12 and over for Pfizer and 18 and over for Moderna)
◆About vaccination tickets:
People who haven’t used the vaccination ticket sent by Minoh City can use the ticket for the new vaccine effective against Omicron variant. Please check the explanation below regarding when the city will send the vaccination ticket for the 3rd to 5th vaccinations.
(1) Those who have not yet got the 3rd vaccination:
a. Those who have received the 3rd vaccination ticket: the ticket can be used for the new vaccination.
b. Those who have not yet received the 3rd vaccination ticket: the ticket for the 3rd vaccination will be sent in the middle of the month, 4 months after the 2nd vaccination.
(2) Those who have already got the 3rd vaccination:
a. Those who have received the 4th vaccination ticket: the ticket can be used for the new vaccination.
b. Those who have not yet received the 4th vaccination ticket: the ticket for the 4th vaccination will be sent in the middle of the month, 4 months after the 3rd vaccination.
(3) Those who have already got the 4th vaccination: the ticket for the 5th vaccination will be sent in the middle of the month, 4 months after the 4th vaccination.
※If you do not have the vaccination ticket because you have lost it, you will need to have one reissued. Please call Minoh City COVID-19 Vaccination Call Center (Minoh-shi Shingata Corona Vaccine Sesshu Call Center) (072-727-6865).
