You may be able to postpone payment of the National Pension contribution for the fiscal year (April 2023 to March 2024) if you meet the following criteria:
— A student at university, graduate school, junior university, graduate school, junior college, high school, technical college or schools in the miscellaneous category (including night school and e-school),
— Aged 20 years or older, and
— Your January to December 2022 income (e.g., salary) was less than a certain amount.
This student-specific program (Gakusei Noufu Tokurei Seido) requires you an application and its approval.
※You can retroactively pay the postponed National Pension contribution within 10 years. If you do not recover contribution payments within 10 years, this granted period counts as qualifying periods for the Old-age Basic Pension. However, your benefit amount will not increase. Please contact below for details.
Documents required:
(1) personal ID (Resident Card, driver’s license, etc.),
(2) Pension Handbook (“Nenkin Techo”), and
(3) student identification card (valid for FY2022) or student registration certificate (issued in FY2023)
Where to apply: Service counter for Health Insurance, Pension and Long-term Care Insurance at the Minoh City Office, Toyokawa Branch or Todoromi Branch
