In Japan, when you keep a dog, you have to register the dog and have it vaccinated against rabies as soon as possible. Your dog needs to be registered only once in its lifetime but it must receive a rabies vaccination yearly.
In Minoh City, until now, mass rabies vaccinations have been administered to groups of dogs simultaneously outdoors. However, from now on, it has been decided that the vaccinations will be given at veterinary hospitals and other similar facilities. This is because it is safer and more hygienic for the dogs. Please get your dog vaccinated at the veterinary hospital you usually have it seen at or at another veterinary hospital near your house.
※From Mon., Apr. 1, 2024 to Tue., Apr. 30, your dog can still receive the vaccination for the same price as conventional mass vaccinations (¥3,300) at the designated veterinary hospitals. The names of the designated veterinary hospitals are listed on the leaflet named “Information on regular rabies vaccination”, which you received from Minoh City by post around the beginning of March.
