Please prepare for natural disasters (earthquake, landslide, etc). The details are as follows.
Prepare to hold out for three days at your home
If there is a large earthquake, it is possible that services such as electricity, water supply, and supply of goods may stop. Please prepare beforehand:
・drinking water for a minimum of three days (3 Liters per person/day)
・food
・flashlights
・portable battery chargers
・portable toilets, etc.
Secure furniture and household appliances to the wall
If there is a large earthquake, you may get injured by falling furniture and household appliances. Please buy disaster safety mounting tools at a hardware store and attach your furniture and appliances to the wall.
It is important to know your neighbors
If you find people who need help after an earthquake, please rescue them with the help of your neighbors. Please take part in a “Jichikai” (neighborhood association) in preparation for natural disasters. It is the best way to know your neighbors.
Escape to an evacuation center if your home is in danger of collapsing
If there is any danger that your house may collapse in a landslide or an earthquake, please escape to a “Hinanjo” (evacuation center).
Your local evacuation center is located in the elementary school in your area (the exceptions to this are Maple Hall instead of Kita Elementary School, and Dai Ni Junior High School instead of Kayano Kita Elementary School). If your home is safe you do not need to evacuate. Please take part in the rescue effort with your neighbors.
Check the Hazard Zone Map
Please carefully check the Minoh City Hazard Zone Map (Bousai Map) to identify evacuation centers and where dangerous landslides may occur.

(If there is any danger that your house may collapse in a landslide, be sure to go to an evacuation center (a place to run to for safety) before the rain gets strong. If your house is in no danger of a landslide, do not unnecessarily go outside, stay inside.)
Check out “Survival Passport”
Survival Passport is an English guide published by Minoh City on how to prepare for disasters. A new issue is published every month, so be sure to check it out:
