April to June is the time when crows raise their young. During this period, crows raid garbage more aggressively than any other time of the year to find food for their young. It is very important to dispose of food waste properly to avoid attracting crows. When disposing of garbage, wrap it in a net and press it down with something heavy. Make sure the edges of the net are tucked securely underneath the garbage bag. Crows are good at removing nets, so place something heavy on the edge of the net to hold it down firmly.
※Box-shaped or drawstring-type garbage nets are also convenient and can be purchased at home improvement stores.
※The city will lend out garbage nets to detached houses with five or more households that dispose of their garbage together. Please contact Kankyo Seibi-shitsu (Waste Management Division) at 072-729-2371.
