Before the season of heavy rains and typhoons, please make sure to check where the hazard areas are and to locate your house on the Hazard Zone Map, confirm in advance whether it is safer for you to “evacuate to an evacuation center” or “take safety inside your house” in an emergency.
◆What Is a Hazard Area?
A hazard area is an area where there is risk of landslides or floods. Landslides are divided into Red Zone, High Risk Area, and Yellow Zone categories. Floods are divided into Danger Level 1-3 categories.
◆Which Is Safer, “Go to an Evacuation Center” or “Take Safety Inside Your House”?
Check which is safer using the Hazard Zone Map in 3 steps.
STEP (1) – Check your house area color on the Hazard Zone Map.
STEP (2) – Check which action you should take in an emergency (“evacuate” or “stay at home”) based on your area color and house structure.
STEP (3) – If you should “evacuate”, check the Minoh City evacuation information announcements and find out when to evacuate.
◆Evacuation Based on Zone and Risk Level
(1) RED ZONE (Landslides) or DANGER LEVEL 3 (Floods):
These are areas where houses are at risk of collapsing or being flooded up to the second floor. Please go to an evacuation center before it gets dark or a storm grows stronger.
(2) HIGH RISK AREA (Landslides) or DANGER LEVEL 2 (Floods):
If your house is a single-story building, these are areas where there is a danger of landslides flowing into the 1st floor windows. Please go to an evacuation center before it gets dark or a storm grows stronger.
If your house has two floors or more, due to the risk of landslides flowing into the 1st floor windows, do not go outside and go into a room away from mountains, cliffs and rivers on the 2nd floor or higher.
(3) YELLOW ZONE (Landslides) or DANGER LEVEL 1 (Floods):
These are areas where there is a danger of landslides flowing/flooding under the floor level. Take safety inside your house, do not go outside and go into a room away from mountains, cliffs and the rivers.
