Child Rearing Allowance and Special Child Rearing Allowance is for a single parent or guardian(s) of a child. It is different from the Child Allowance (Jido Teate).
◆The following parent or guardian(s) are eligible for receiving these allowances.
High-income families are not eligible. For further information, please contact Childcare Support Division (Kosodate Shien-ka).
(1) Child Rearing Allowance (Jido Fuyo Teate)
Eligible: Parent or guardian(s) (of child under 18 or under 20 with mental or physical disability) who (a) is divorced, (b) is a single parent due to death of father or mother, (c) has disability, or (d) is unmarried, etc.
Amount: ￥10,180 – ￥43,160/month (varies by their 2019 income)
(2) Special Child Rearing Allowance (Tokubetsu Jido Fuyo Teate)
Eligible: Parent or guardian(s) of child under 20 with mental or physical disability.
Amount: Grade 1 disability ￥52,500/month
Grade 2 disability ￥34,970/month
◆Parent/guardian(s) who are receiving child allowance payments now, please note the following.
Recipients of the Child Rearing Allowance must submit the “Status Report for Child Allowance (Genkyo-todoke)”. Recipients of Special Child Rearing Allowance must submit the “Income Status Report for Child Allowance (Shotoku-jokyo-todoke)”. A notification will be sent to those eligible.
