Rubella Antibody Testing and Vaccination

(1) Rubella antibody testing and vaccination
The following people are eligible for a free rubella antibody test. Those who have low antibody levels are strongly recommended to get a vaccination. If a pregnant woman contracts rubella during pregnancy, the baby’s development might be affected.
Eligibility:
a. Women who wish to become pregnant, their spouses, and those living with them
b. The spouses of pregnant women, and those living with them
(including when women return to their parents’ home to give birth)
※Pregnant women cannot get vaccinated.
Place: Medical institutions designated by Minoh City (Make sure to make a reservation in advance.)
Deadline for testing and vaccination: Wed., Mar. 31, 2027
Costs: Antibody test: free. / Vaccination subsidy: up to ¥6,000
How to apply for the subsidy:
a. Apply via the website.
b. Fill in the application form and bring it to the Health Promotion Division (Kenko Zoshin-ka) or send it by post. (Address: 5-8-1 Kayano, Minoh 562-0014)
※First pay for the vaccination up front. Apply for the subsidy afterward.
※Those who received a rubella routine vaccination between Apr. 1, 2019 and Mar. 31, 2025 or those who have already received the subsidies are not eligible to apply.
(2) People whose routine vaccination period is extended
The routine vaccination period has been extended until Wed., Mar. 31, 2027 for the following people.
Eligibility:
Those who meet all 3 of the following requirements
a. Men born between Apr. 2, 1962 and Apr. 1, 1979
b. Took an antibody test by Mar.31, 2025
c. Have low antibody levels
Vaccination subsidy: up to ¥10,219
How to apply for the vaccination:
a. Apply via the website.
b. Fill in the application form and bring it to the Health Promotion Division (Kenko Zoshin-ka) or send it by post. (Address: 5-8-1 Kayano, Minoh 562-0014)
(3) People eligible for Minoh City-specific vaccination subsidy
Minoh City provides a subsidy for the vaccination to the following people.
Eligibility:
a. People born before Apr. 1, 1962, who had taken an antibody test resulting in low antibody levels by Mar. 31, 2025
b. Men born between Apr. 2, 1979 and Apr. 1, 1990, who had taken an antibody test resulting in low antibody levels by Mar. 31, 2025
Deadline: Wed., Mar. 31, 2027
Vaccination subsidy: up to ¥6,000
How to apply for the subsidy:
a. Apply via the website.
b. Fill in the application form and bring it to the Health Promotion Division (Kenko Zoshin-ka) or send it by post. (Address: 5-8-1 Kayano, Minoh 562-0014)
