◆In order to minimize the risk of damage or loss due to the heavy rain or flooding
Please take the following preventive measures immediately.
(1) Clean up the rain ditches around your house.
If the ditches are full of fallen leaves or twigs, it can cause water to flow poorly and lead to overflows. Please clean up the ditches before the rainy season begins.
(2) Prepare an emergency bag.
It is advisable to put the following items in a bag and keep it near the entrance of your house. Such preparations will also come in handy when you have to evacuate to safer places in the event of natural disasters such as heavy rain, typhoons and earthquakes.
a. A flashlight
b. A battery and a charging cable for mobile phones
c. A portable toilet
d. A whistle (To call for help)
e. Other necessities as needed, a little water and food for the time being, milk and diapers for babies, medications you regularly take, spare eyeglasses or contact lenses, sanitary napkins, wet tissue paper, etc.
◆When the typhoon is approaching
Take the following preparations before the wind and rain get stronger.
(1) Keep anything that may be blown away by strong winds inside the house.
For example, flower pots or hanging planters, clothespins or hangers, laundry poles, cleaning tools like a broom, a bamboo blind, etc.
(2) Close and lock the shutters and also close the curtains.
This will help to prevent pieces of broken glass from flying all over the place even if strong winds blow something into a window and it breaks.
